Rihanna Shuts Down Sales Of Fenty Brands To Honor Blackout Tuesday

If you tried purchasing items from Rihanna's three Fenty brands, including Fenty Beauty, lingerie line Savage x Fenty, and LVMH-helmed luxury line Fenty on Tuesday (June 2), you were unsuccessful as the pop titan closed the entities to honor the ongoing protests for the Black Lives Matter movement.

As you know, the music industry went silent for Blackout Tuesday, the social media campaign that encouraged the public to halt posts and redirect their attention to the movement at hand and how they can get involved. "We ain't buying sh*t!!! and we ain't selling sh*t neither!! gang gang! #BLACKOUTTUESDAY AF!!!" Rihanna wrote in messages on social media. Among the other brands to cease sales included KKW Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, The Honest Company and Flower Beauty.

Meanwhile, each of the star's business entities shared letters explaining their participation in the campaign and urged followers to use their voices for activism. "FENTY as a brand was created to elevate beauty, power and freedom! At this very moment racists are attempting to rip those values away from Black people and we will NOT stand by and let that happen. We are too powerful, creative and resilient," read a statement via the Fenty Instagram page. "In support of the Black community, we will be donating funds to Color of Change and Movement for Black Lives. We ask you to speak up, stand up, and pull up against racism and discrimination in all forms.

Worldwide protests have been non-stop after the killing of George Floyd, the Black Man who saw former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin put his knee on Floyd's neck for over eight minutes until he passed out and eventually died. Since the tragic murder, Chauvin has been fired and arrested on charges of third-degree murder and manslaughter. Click here for ways on how you can help fight back against racial injustice.
