ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot produced by OpenAI, was reported to be facing significant disruptions Tuesday (June 10) morning.

OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT, API and its Sora video generator were experiencing technical difficulties, citing "elevated error rates" on the status page of its website.

"We're currently experiencing issues," OpenAI confirmed. "We have identified the root cause for the issue causing elevated errors and latency across the listed services. We are working on implementing a mitigation."

ChatGPT users also claimed that the chatbot was down for hours in posts shared on social media.

"When @ChatGPT is so overworked it can't even finish your message... Today, many users (myself included) are facing errors in the message stream. Is @OpenAI having a burnout day? The fun part? I asked #ChatGPT to write this tweet about its own crash," X user Richard Pathray wrote in a post that included a screengrab of an error message, along with "self-awareness level: (robot and skull emojis)."

Software engineer Gergely Orosz also acknowledged the disruption and acknowledged broader issues.

“What is happening right now? ChatGPT/OpenAI outage for 3 hours. Heroku down for 4 hours (even their status page is down!) NVIDIA dev docs as well (runs on Heroku). Pipedrive (CRM) issues for 4 hours. What else is down… and are these connected? Something started 4 hours ago…” Orosz wrote on his X account.
