UK Royal Mint Releases Coin With Queen And The Queen On The Two Sides
Here's something for the ultimate Queen fan. The UK Royal Mint will issue a first of its kind commemorative coin featuring the band and her majesty on the two sides.
Three designs will be released, coming in gold, silver, and Brilliant Uncirculated. Prices start at £13 ($17 USD) for the £5 Brilliant piece, while a one-ounce gold proof has the hefty price tag of £2,020 ($2,625 USD).
The front face shows Queen Elizabeth II, while the back pays tribute to the Brit icons with images of their instruments and the band's logo.
"To have our band recognized and our music celebrated in this way is very touching - a real honor," said guitarist Brian May. Drummer Roger Taylor added, "Marvelous, all this fuss over our band. I feel entirely spent."
