I am a self-proclaimed droid but I do happen to have an iPhone on hand so I can Facetime with the "applelite" (<---totally made-up word.) So whenever there is something cool I definitely want to shout it out. Enter the "Back Tap" What is ‘Back Tap you ask?’ It happens to be a feature that was launched during the pandemic. The feature allows iPhone users to turn the Apple logo on the back of their device into a secret button. The "Back Tap" can act as the ‘Double Tap’ and ‘Triple Tap’ options which can control the ‘App Switcher,’ ‘Camera,’ ‘Control Center,’ ‘Lock Screen,’ ‘Mute,’ ‘Notification Center,’ ‘Screenshot,’ ‘Siri,’ and ‘Spotlight.’

How to set up ‘Back Tap’

  • Make sure your phone is running iOS 14 or higher
  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Accessibility’ > ‘Touch’ > ‘Back Tap.’
  • From there you can decide to set up a ‘Double Tap,’ a ‘Triple Tap,’ or both. Simply tap on the option(s) you want and select from the list of shortcuts.
