It was a rainy, damp Sunday in Washington, D.C. on June 9th for the Capital Pride Concert and Festival presented by PRIDE Radio, but that didn't stop hundreds of thousands of people from coming to stand outside and celebrate Pride with DJ extraordinaire Marshmello!
For the first time ever, Marshmello performed at an LGBTQ Pride Celebration and decided our Nation's Capital was the best place to do it... he rocked the crowd for over an hour with his own hits and classic anthems from Pride celebrations gone by. At one point, he even grabbed a rainbow flag a swung it up in front of the crowd, proclaiming his support for the community.
Fans screamed wildly, and it was a moment for the ages. It's always amazing to see our Allies of the community come out to support us, but when it's a celebrity ally who's voice can carry an even larger impact, that's something whose power is hard to describe. Allies are able to continue our conversation beyond the Pride celebrations, help to direct the discourse beyond our own LGBTQ community and communicate our message of love, acceptance and tolerance.
THANK YOU for being a friend, Marshmello!
