Gal Gadot spoofed Wonder Woman on “SNL.” The premise was two lesbians landed on Themyscira and saw all the women, but were disappointed the amazons on the island, including Gadot’s character, were not gay. Watch the video above of the parody on “Saturday Night Live.”
In the sketch, the two women (Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon) hoped the other women were lesbians, but unfortunately for them none were. Some of the ladies on the island played with each other, but it wasn’t sexual, prompting one of the lesbians to say, “It’s like watching porn, but the plumber is genuinely there to fix the pipes.” Gadot’s character offered to kiss one of the women, just to see if she felt anything. After she kissed one of the lesbians, Gadot admitted, “I’m sorry I felt nothing,” and so the two women sailed away.
Of course, “SNL” has a rich history of mocking superheroes. In 2015, for example, when Scarlett Johansson hosted the program, the sketch comedy show spoofed her movie Avengers: Age of Ultron and “chick flicks” like Sex and the City for a parody trailer called Black Widow: Age of Me. In the filmed, bit, Johansson played her character Black Widow, who has a “great job” at Fashion Weekly magazine, but the “only thing missing,” announces the mock trailer, is “love.” That is, until she met Ultron.
Another memorable sketch in the past few years had Chris Hemsworth’s hammer-wielding character Thor and his fellow Avengers celebrating after defeating Ultron during a mock TV newscast. In the skit, Thor told a news reporter, “Those robots fought hard, but I’m Thor!” He then sang, “We Are The Champions.” Nick Fury also was on the scene for the celebration and had Gatorade dumped on him by Thor and Iron Man. Captain America, however, cautioned people watching the news to remain at home. But still in a party mode, Thor announced to viewers of the newscast that the victory party was going to be at Dave & Buster’s.
