In celebration of Pride month and the 30th Anniversary of the ‘Lifetime Original Movie’, "Prayers For Bobbie" (2009) is airing a special encore presentation of this critically acclaimed movie, starring three-time Academy Award nominee, Sigourney Weaver.
Based on a true story, the movie tells the story of LGBTQ rights crusader Mary Griffith (played by Weaver), whose gay son committed suicide due to homophobia and his mother’s unacceptance.
Bobby Griffith went to Las Lomas High School in the East Bay in Walnut Creek and was a 1983 graduate. He took his own life when he was just 20-years-old.
Sigourney received an Emmy nomination for her role and the movie received a 2010 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series.
The encore broadcast will take place on Lifetime TV on July 5th at 12pm.
