A Nashville couple claims that a Madison wedding venue denied them service because of their sexual orientation, according to TMZ.

Mike Gill and his partner, Coty Heaton, thought they had found the perfect venue to get married when they discovered Barn in the Bend. After an initial email from owner Jackie Daniel on Tuesday (August 31) to set up a tour, Gill received another email about an hour later stating, "We do not offer same sex marriage ceremonies."

In the emails, shared with the gossip outlet, Daniel said, "Did you mention that your partner was a 'he' If I'm wrong I'm sorry. However, I don't want to waste your time since we do not offer same sex marriages here."

Gill, upset that he and Heaton were turned away because of their relationship, said Daniel sent a follow-up email citing her religious beliefs, adding, "I wish you the best in life and the best future in all that you do."

After Gill shared their story, Barn in the Bend reportedly received so much negative feedback that they shut down their social media and their website. As of Wednesday, their official site is listed as private and only their Instagram page is visible.

According to Scoop Nashville, Barn in the Bend has also been dropped from wedding planning and referral websites after an onslaught of negative reviews and comments, citing the venue's "discriminatory policies."
