A federal judge has temporarily blocked Tennessee’s anti-drag law just a few hours before it was supposed to take effect citing concerns it violates the First Amendment right to freedom of expression. The lawsuit was filed by Friends of George’s, an LGBTQ+ theater company based in Memphis.

More legal news, the US Department of Justice has officially filed a notice of appeal on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services over the rule struck down by the 5th circuit that would allow insurance companies to skip paying for preventative care like PrEP and STI screenings.

And finally, a federal judge in Texas has ordered that books removed from a county’s public libraries in must be put back on the shelves. The books in question were removed because of content dealing specifically with LGBTQ+ issues and race.
