After facing strong resistance against it, the city of Franklin, Tennessee – a suburb of Nashville – granted a permit for the town’s annual PRIDE Festival this week. The mayor had to cast the tie-breaking vote bringing the result to 5-4 among a call for unity among the community members saying “it is important we continue to learn who our neighbors are in Franklin.” Franklin Pride takes place on June 3rd – more info on the PRIDE Guide at PRIDERadio.com.
Another transgender athlete ban has been signed into law, this time in North Dakota, which prohibits trans girls and women from playing on female sports teams across all grade levels and college. This law was passed even though the governor admitted there has not been a single recorded incident of a trans girl asking to play on a girls team in the state.
Britney Griner is working on a memoir about her time being arrested and jailed in Russia. She called the experience unfathomable. The book should be out in Spring 2024.
