The US Department of Justice has sued the state of Tennessee over their law banning gender affirming care for trans youth stating in their argument that the legislation violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.
Republican lawmakers in Montana have banned trans lawmaker Zooey Zephyr from the House Floor after she spoke up against that ban and said the legislature had “blood on its hands”. In a party line vote, she will not be allowed back on the House floor or in the gallery for the rest of the legislative session, effectively silencing the 11,000 citizens who voted for her to represent them.
And Florida Republican Randy Fine, the legislator responsible for Florida’s anti-drag and anti-trans laws this session, is officially under investigation for ethics violations. The Ethics Commission found probable cause that he used his power and position to make threats and target a female political competitor in his home district of Brevard County.
