Florida legislators passed a bill that bans gender-affirming care for trans youth, taking away a parent’s right to seek healthcare for their trans child. It also criminalizes the care itself, meaning doctors, providing care following approved guidelines from major medical organizations, will now face legal action. It goes further to restrict access to care for adults.
Eight mayors from Orlando, Tampa, Miami Beach, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and other Florida cities have signed a pledge in support of LGBTQ+ rights in defiance of Gov. Ron DeSantis promising ‘safe learning environments that include and affirm all children, including LGBTQ+ students”. The pledge is spearheaded by GLSEN and its Rise Up campaign.
Some LGBTQ+ bars are removing Anheuser-Busch products in response to the company putting two marketing executives on leave and abandoning their support of trans activist Dylan Mulvaney. 2 Bears Tavern Group in Chicago was the first to announce they were dropping Anheuser-Busch products, with Chicago’s Sidetrack bar quickly following suit.
