Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, signed the “Protections of Medical Conscience Act,” a law that makes it possible for any healthcare provider, including insurers, EMTs, ambulance drivers, pharmacists, and others, to deny service to LGBTQ+ persons on a “conscience-based objection” basis that includes any ethical, moral or religious beliefs. The Human Rights Campaign spoke out against the law saying it also “creates a license to discriminate by allowing healthcare employers to discriminate in hiring and it bars medical Boards from disciplining doctors for spreading misinformation.”

A teacher in Florida is under investigation for screening a Disney film to her students. The film in question was “Strange World” which features a lead LGBTQ+ character. One student reported the screening to their parents which triggered the investigation. The teacher said she had permission slips from all parents and left blanks for films she should not show by parent request. No parents had filled in the blanks.
