A Federal Judge has ruled that Florida’s ban on Medicaid payments for transgender care violates two Federal laws and the Equal Protection Clause confirming in his ruling that “gender identity is real”. The judge also said that “pushing individuals away from their transgender identity is not a legitimate state interest” saying they had chosen to block treatments using biased and unscientific processes.

A Federal appeals court ruled this week that a Texas-based Christian-owned wellness center is exempt from laws to prevent discrimination against people based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The ruling means the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission cannot sue the alternative health center over its anti-LGBTQ+ employee policies. All three judges on the appeals court were appointed by Republican Presidents.
