Tegan and Sara were on top of the queer indie rock world. They worked hard to get there and proudly held one of the most inclusive and passionate fanbases in music today. On Friday, October 18, 2024, Hulu will release "Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara" telling a story few have heard.

Hulu's upcoming documentary delves into the extraordinary journey of Tegan and Sara, one of the most influential queer indie rock bands of their generation. Rising to global fame, the duo not only captivated audiences with their deeply personal lyrics but also created a safe haven for LGBTQ+ fans at a time when few bands openly embraced their identities. However, this tight-knit community faced a profound betrayal when Tegan's personal files were hacked in 2011, leading to a complex and devastating catfish scheme that targeted their fans.

The documentary, led by filmmaker and investigator Erin Lee Carr, uncovers the far-reaching impact of this violation. Through a blend of Tegan’s own narrative, the experiences of deceived fans, and a wealth of revealing communications between the impostor and their victims, the film explores the darker side of fame and the vulnerability of fandom. It also reveals new victims, suspects, and unexpected twists as Tegan and her team seek to identify the person responsible for the long-standing harassment.

Carr Lot Productions serves as the production team for this gripping documentary.
