Is Louis Tomlinson teaming up with one of his One Direction bandmates for a new project? That's what many fans have been positing, and a new interview with the musician is adding fuel to the fire.

Tomlinson recently sat down with Emily Curl for iHeartRadio where she noted how fans are "convinced" that he is teaming up with Zayn Malik for a "special project." The "Back to You" singer was seemingly aware of the rumors and cheekily evaded the question.

"Yeah, I heard that," he said with a smile. "I thought that was pretty interesting, yeah. Pretty astute. Hmm."

Tomlinson teased fans further by not confirming or denying the speculation, simply replying, "I suppose they'll just have to wait and see."

While Tomlinson didn't reveal any information about the rumored project, The Sun reported on Wednesday (October 1) that he and Malik are reuniting for a new road trip-style documentary for Netflix where they will travel across the U.S discussing their memories from their time in 1D as well as their late friend and bandmate Liam Payne. According to Page Six, filming has reportedly already begun and the project is expected to release in 2026, 10 years after the band's split.

One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016, one year after Malik left the band, which also included Niall Horan and Harry Styles. Fans had been holding out hope for a full reunion, but Payne tragically died October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
