Orville Peck said “maybe now more than ever,” LGBTQ+ visibility is needed.
The country star, donning one of his signature fringed masks as he does not show his face in public, was part of the star-studded lineup during Can't Cancel Pride 2024. Peck took the stage to accept an honor from GLAAD, a non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organization focusing on inclusive representation that has worked in Nashville, Tennessee, and beyond. That includes through country artist Ty Herndon’s Foundation For Love & Acceptance and its annual concert featuring LGBTQ+ artists and supporters.
“I wanna say a big thank you to GLAAD for honoring me this year, and also for all that they do to raise visibility in our community. As artists, we have the opportunity to shed light on issues that we care about,” Peck, 36, said as he took the stage during Can’t Cancel Pride. “Our visibility is needed all year round. Maybe now more than ever. So, let’s remember to support one another within our community. Also, to be there for those most at risk from the current stigmas and rhetoric surrounding us, especially our trans brothers and sisters. And also, to keep our voices loud and proud because we are always strongest when we’re standing together.”
Peck delivered a rendition of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other,” which he released with country legend Willie Nelson. Earlier in the show, Peck also joined iconic rocker Melissa Etheridge to perform her early 90s hit, “I’m the Only One,” together.

Can’t Cancel Pride 2024 was hosted by Elton John Impact Award recipient Billy Porter, as iHeartRadio and Procter & Gamble® (P&G) came together to recognize the impact of music and LGBTQ+ organizations — including CenterLink, GLAAD, National Black Justice Coalition, Outright International, The Trevor Project and SAGE — for the fifth-annual show. Other performers included Meghan Trainor, David Archuleta, Victoria Monét, Ben Platt, RAYE, Allison Russell, and more. Can’t Cancel Pride 2024 premiered on Wednesday evening (June 12) on iHeartRadio's YouTube and Facebook pages, Hulu, and on Revry. It will remain available to stream throughout Pride Month.
