Walmart Will Require All Customers To Wear Masks At Its Stores!

Walmart and Sam's Club are joining other companies like; Best Buy, Costco & Apple -- in requiring customers to wear a face mask inside the store!

Walmart and Sam's Club announced the new policy on Wednesday and said it will go into effect on July 20.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has gone on record multiple times recommending face masks coverings as a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially when social distancing isn't possible.

Walmart U.S. Chief Operating Officer, Dacona Smith, and Sam's Club Chief Operating Officer, Lance De La Rosa, posted to the company's website stating:

The new requirement will keep customers and employees safe and “help bring consistency across stores and clubs” across its national footprint. While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities.

Here's how they plan on enforcing the new face mask requirement:

  • At Walmart stores, the company has created a new employee role, titled the health ambassador, who will get special training and will be stationed near the door. The 'health ambassador' will remind customers about the mask requirement immediately upon walking inside. The aforementioned 'health ambassadors' will be easily identified with a black polo shirt.
  • As Sam's Club stores, an employee will also be standing by the door to remind customers about the face mask requirement. Complimentary face masks will be provided and masks will also be available for purchase at the location.
